Requirements

• We are looking for good listeners who are caring and non-judgemental.
• You will need to provide appropriate references and other documentation as required.
• You will need to complete a minimum of 21 hours of classroom training (usually 3 hours a week for 7 weeks)
• New volunteers complete 2 supervised telephone shifts (4 hours each) to help them prepare to work on their own.
• Volunteers participate in various interviews after completion of training process to ensure their comfort and ability.
• Volunteers must be able to commit to 16 hours a month.
• Complete the application package provided.

Minimum Time Requirements

Every Volunteer Crisis Worker must fulfil the following minimum time commitment:

• A total of 192 hours of service on the crisis lines (16 hours/month)
• Consisting of no less then 12 overnight shifts (11:00p.m.- 7a.m.) completed within a one year period from the date they finish training.
